Databricks, Software Engineer
Thang Long VU is a Software Engineer at Databricks, specializing in performance optimization for Data Manipulation Language operations (MERGE/UPDATE/DELETE) on the Lakestore DML Performance team. His work involves improving efficiency and saving customers significant time and resources through projects like data-skipping optimization in Delta Lake and the Spark SQL Catalyst Optimizer.
He has also contributed to open-source projects such as Apache Spark and Delta Lake, working on innovative features like Row Tracking and Delta Connect.Originally from Vietnam, Long holds a Bachelor of Science from Ecole Polytechnique in France and completed an exchange semester at EPFL. His professional journey includes internships at Google Ireland, Databricks Amsterdam, and Huawei Edinburgh, where he collaborated on cutting-edge projects.
Outside of work, Long enjoys traveling (with visits to 25 countries, including Poland and counting) and is passionate about calisthenics.
